Christian Discipleship – A Vital Part of Christian Truth
Have ever come across the term Christian Discipleship? Well, it happens to be an interesting fact and a very important part of Christian truth. The term, simply put refers to the spreading the DNA of Jesus Christ. By DNA we are not referring to the biological concept but the very essence of the Son of God which happens to be truth, relationships and mission. These qualities are what Jesus was made up of and what is believed to have been passed by Him to his disciples.
His disciples were the medium through which He passed the scriptural truths. Jesus believed in his disciples and He sought after building a strong relationship with his disciples before beginning the teachings. Once the relationship is cemented, it is time to introduce them and through them to the masses the truth of scripture. While passing on the truth of scripture, it was not essential to judge the character or nature of the people. It was not essential to know whether the person is a believer or non believer. What counted crucial was whether the person was ready to accept divine truth or not. It is believed that God’s truth can change people. As the Christian disciple, one simply has the responsibility to ask whether the mass is willing to read and discuss the Bible with you or not.
This concept being a vital component of Christian truth draws reference from the Parable of the Sower (Mark 4). In this, Jesus passed on the message to his disciples that the “seed” referred to the word of God. This is what contained the crux of the scriptural truth that the disciples must accept to attain a somewhat similar stature of Jesus. Jesus also preached that the “soil” referred to was the human heart. What Jesus was trying was to put a basic truth of scripture in very simple to comprehend terms. According to Him, since the word of God (seed) is totally pure, the extent of fruitfulness depends upon the condition and how well the human heart receives it.
Believing and following the scriptural truths is the duty of every Christian disciple. This includes reading and discussing the truth of scripture with the common people. The very two things that you need them to answer while commencing any such discussion are number one, “What did God tell you to do”” and “What are you going to do about it?”
To answer these questions, it is essential to be thorough with the Christian truth or the scriptural truths. The Bible is the medium to reach God as by reading the Word of God one may be able to fall in love with the supreme one. Hence, it is important to prioritize the needs of life. If you read through Mark 4, you will come across a part where it is mentioned that the seed that fell on the thorny ground was choked by other worldly beliefs and worries. This puts light on the fact that if we do not find time to go through the truth of scripture then we might also face the same fate.
Christian disciples therefore are entrusted with the responsibility to pass on the truth of scripture. They are the shoulders on which Jesus has put the duty to bring the supreme truth in everyone’s life. Christian Truth, He believed, would enter our hearts only through the scriptures.
