Plan A Fun Clambake Party For Friends And Family

by Gail Leino

A clambake party is a great way for friends and family to come together and enjoy the great taste of clams. Throwing a clambake party is relatively easy, affordable and requires little preparation time. Not everyone has access to the beach; therefore throwing a clambake party in the backyard is the next best option.

Clambake Party Supplies and Decorations: Send clambake invitations within several weeks of the clambake party scheduled date. Ensure all the necessary information is on the Clambake themed party invitations such as time, date, address, and special directions if needed.

Turn the beach or as backyard into a nautical area with inflatable palm trees to create an oasis…. a row boat would be great with netting and plastic startfish. Nautical themed party supplies and decorations will put the guests in the mood and create an outstanding party environment. Create centerpieces using sand buckets attached with festive nautical balloons.

For children, create a separate play area is possible. Decorate a room in the house that resembles and enchanted sea with various ocean party supplies and decorations. Decorate the area with various blues, greens, cellophane wrap, (gives the illusion of being under the sea), plastic fish, cutouts on the wall, and a bubble machine. Have children cut out their own fish from construction paper.

On the beach a hole lined with stones is used for the clambake. For those who do not have the ability to use the beach for a clambake, clambake grilling is a tasty alternative.

Some children might not love seafood so have a few sandwiches or hotdogs on hand. To combat this, allow children to participate in various sea party games.

Treasure Hunt - Strategically place small sea toys in the house, backyard, and have children search premise. Split the children into teams of have them work individually. All prizes found are kept as party favors.

Deep Sea Diving - Allow the children to dive for prizes in a large plastic tub filled with layers of sand or water. Hide shells and sea-themed bath toys in the sand before filling the tub. Give children a designated time to search for the sea artifacts - whatever is found, the children get to keep.
