Abbeyfield Launches New Homes At Residential Care Development In Cambridgeshire

by Keith Osborne

Residential care specialist Abbeyfield is set to launch new homes in Cambridgeshire at an independent living development in Girton, around four miles north-west of Cambridge. The new scheme will feature 76 apartments for sale or rental and officially launches on Thursday 10th March. Ten properties at the development have already been reserved, underlining the company's established reputation and the appeal of this new addition to its portfolio for homebuyers hoping to find a property that can meet their increasing needs as they grow older.

The development is expected to be completed in April 2012. The 2.2-acre site will also have a clubhouse with pool, restaurant, gym, sauna, therapy rooms and hairdresser, a private cinema and landscaped gardens as well as parking for over 60 cars. The apartments are priced from £220,000 for one bedroom, £250,000 for two bedrooms and £325,000 for the four three-bedroom properties. The two- and three-bedroom designs all benefit from an en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom for an extra level of luxury and privacy.

Each apartment will have its own patio or balcony and some benefit from their own private garden. Inside, a fully fitted kitchen, quality bathroom and carpets throughout the living and bedroom areas come as standard, as do the emergency and security systems you would expect from a purpose-built retirement property.

With over 700 locations in the UK and associated developments in 16 countries around the world, Abbeyfield is one of the most established specialist providers of supported independent living operating today. Its homes offer residents the opportunity to live life independently with the knowledge that if and when they need assistance, there is a dedicated team on hand to provide it.

Manuela White, Marketing and Communications Manager at Abbeyfield says: "We can't wait to open our new Independent Living with personal care development in Girton, Cambridge - not only to add to our existing houses in Cambridge, but also to launch a wonderful community for older people with lots of interesting activities, support on site and a great environment to live in."

As well as creating a community in itself, Abbeyfield Girton will also be open to the local community at large, who will be encouraged to visit and use the facilities on offer at the scheme. With a regular mini-bus service into Cambridge, residents also have plenty of scope to enjoy the sights and amenities of the city. The M11, A10 and A14 nearby mean that getting to the site from London, Ely, Huntingdon and Newmarket is very easy.
