Keeping My Eyes Out For Pricing Labels Shenanigans
I try not to get into it with folks who work in retail. I have done it, honestly most of us have, and it can be a really grueling process especially given people's demanding nature of the shops they tend to frequent. So if I am wrong about a sale item price or something takes a little bit of extra time I tend to not get my pants in a bunch over it. I do not want to ruin anybody's day. Still the handful of times I have raised concerns about an item's pricing or about improperly placed pricing labels I tend to be right. That in a way is the great thing about having a price tagging gun with pricing labels isn't it? We all know where we stand when we get to the counter of a store. This item costs this much because it says it right there. It says it right on the package. No questions asked. Paper or Plastic? Have a nice day.
Still every now and then there is room for human error and at least once I have allowed myself to be taken to the cleaners by my overt willingness to let bygones be bygones. My acceptance of human error extends beyond retail related price gun mishaps and yet those tend to be the ones that stick in my craw. Why did I stand by and pay $6.50 for that package of Peanut Butter Oreos when I knew The were supposed to be $3? I guess it is because some employee put the wrong pricing labels on the package. More likely though I call shenanigans on some punk in the aisle (likely not even a paying customer) playing head games with the poor cashiers swapping pricing labels like some sort of low rate Banksy. How can these kids get away with this?
Since that time of course I have become my own personal "Shame On You" squad out to catch these little jerks. Since I am now so aware of these sorts of goings on I catch kids in the act all the time. If I see anyone switching pricing gun labels I immediately tell an employee. I never wanted to be a tattle tail but this has gone on for too long and there are too many potential victims. Customers, employees, managers, no one is safe from the rein of terror these monsters are putting fourth on us all.
