CNA Tests Are Necessary To Becoming A CNA
A CNA, or certified nurse assistant, is the person who performs a lot of direct patient care. A CNA is the person who gets the patient up and moving, helps the patient get dressed, and gets the patient the things they need. They are an essential part of any hospital, nursing home or assisted living facility. Without CNAs RNs wouldn't be able to do all the things that they need to do, and some patient care would suffer.
Before you can become a CNA you have to have the right training and you have to have certification. You can get training in a couple of different ways. One is to go to a school that offers a CNA program. Most community colleges offer a CNA program. Many nursing schools also offer a program. The program can take from 2 to 6 months, depending on what school you go to and your state requirements.
Another option to get training to become a CNA is to find a medical facility that offers a course. Many facilities do offer training for people who are going to work there. You will still get the same training, but you know you will have a job at the end of the training. Those programs also run 2-6 months, depending on the facility.
Once you have finished your training you need to take a test to get the certification. The test is a national test, which means after you have finished it you will have a certification that you can take from state to state.
CNA tests consist of two parts. The first part is the written part. This part is about the theories you have learned and what you need to do in particular situations. It will include questions on infectious diseases and how you can prevent getting them or passing them along to your patients. There will also be questions about how you can help patients and the best way to help them safely. The length of this section of the test depends on the state, and the percentage of right questions needed to pass also varies by the state.
The second part of the test is the practical part. For this part you need to show that you have perform 5 random skills from the 25 that you have learned in your program. You will have a set time to do the skills. You will be evaluated by a licensed person who will grade you on how well you do the tasks set to you and how long it takes you to do them.
Once you have finished the CNA tests you will be able to get your certification. Certification means that you can find the job that you need. As a CNA you will help to make sure that the hospital, assisted living center or nursing home that you have chosen to work out runs smoothly because you will be helping patients and freeing up an RN to deal with other things.
