by Scott James

Getting a new television for the home is a major purchase nowadays. The idea of parting with what could be a couple of hundred notes does tend to concentrate the mind somewhat.

Given the way technology changes it is essential to try and make sure that your purchase is relatively future-proof.

Digital television (DTT) is a telecommunication system for broadcasting and receiving moving pictures and sound by means of digital signals, in contrast to analogue signals used by analogue (traditional) TV. Other ways have been devised to receive digital television. Among the most familiar to people are digital cable and digital satellite. In some countries where transmissions of TV signals are normally achieved by microwaves, digital MMDS is used.

With this article the aim is to take a look at what is on offer with the latest generation of Flat Screen Televisions and in this case the Sony KDL-40V2000.

The KDL 40V2000 is a 40in LCD TV and these TV's at present can be found in the region of 1350 pounds sterling or 2700 US dollars. The screen resolution is 1366 X 768 and with regards to being HD Ready the answer is yes. The Sony has 2 (2 RGB) scarts and the type and number of Multimedia interfaces the KDL 40V2000 uses is HDMI and 1. The type of Tuner for this TV is Analogue and Digital and the Sony is available from a wide variety of outlets.

So given this information, what would be our view of the Sony KDL-40V2000?

First up, we would look at the picture quality and our score here would be 10 out of 10, and closely tied in to the picture quality is the sound quality and our score for this would be 10 out of 10. Taking a look at the number of relevant connections and their availability, our score would be 8 out of 10. If we take a look at the overall "featureability" our score would be 10 out of 10 if we then take a look at the ease of use and overall value for money then our scores would be, 8 out of 10 and 6 out of 10 respectively.

Taking everything into consideration our overall view of the package would be perhaps this is one of the best of the current range of LCD TV's from Sony but one drawback maybe ( aminor one maybe) that the TV has a limited number of hi-def connections

The fact is that given the wide variety of models and makes available today you should find something that suites your needs as well as your wallet. You could either opt for one of the more cutting edge newer options available or stay safe and go for one of the more established options available. No matter what rout you take we hope that after reading this article you should be more informed as to the correct choice with which to take.
