The Best Way To Relieve Chronic Muscle Pains

Piliates - it's a system of exercises that celebrities swear by. Everyone who does it will sing it's praises, but what does Pilates offer you if you are in reasonably good shape with only one major problem? The problem I'm talking about, and I'm sure that many people will agree with me when I say it is a big one, is neck and back pain. The key to solving those problems is to do Pilates - but you have to do it properly to get the full advantage of it!
Now there are differing type of Pilates for different situations. The Pilates that we all know (and most love) is for general health. They focus on strengthening the core muscles, flexibility, increasing muscular endurance, body conditioning and general strengthening of the body. However, Pilates for pain relief is slightly more specialized and though you don't need an instructor at all times, doing the exercises with an instructor the first few times is recommended.
Now a lot of Pilates instructors will tell you that you have to only use a professional when it comes to pain relief exercise, but I want to tell you this simply is not true. The best way to go about pain relief with Pilates is to buy yourself a DVD and practice it yourself - then if you are having problems with a certain exercise, you go to an instructor and get the knowledge from them on what you need. You needn't waste both your precious time and your money on someone who is looking to keep you as a client for as long as possible. It's best to find out exactly what help you need and then go to a few lessons with your eyes already open. Once you perfect the techniques with the instructor - there will be no reason to go to them again!
Another thing to remember is that physiotherapy and Pilates go well together, so the money you would be spending on an instructor would be better used on a physio-therapeutic massage that will give you much more enjoyment and healing power than simply having someone tell you what to do over and over again despite you having already internalized the techniques needed.
Remember that this is a common trap that people find themselves in when starting anything new. Many people will start off with someone who knows better, then see that it is taking taking out a large chunk of their budget and stop doing it. Instead of having that happen - buy a DVD and then learn it yourself. Then when you go to learn the ins and outs you are already prepared and will be able to let go of the lessons without letting go of the routine of exercising.
Make sure you take control of your life - and your pain. There is nothing that is more paralyzing than pain in the neck and the back and the answer to those problems lie in your hands. Do not give up, do not allow yourself to led astray, and most of all - practice!
