How To Market Your Novel
If you take a look through Amazon, and I mean really take a look, you'll find that there are tons of books available to read. Literally millions. As far as books go, it's a buyer's market. That means if you are interested in reading a book, you've got tons of choices. However, if you are selling a book, then you've got to compete with every other writer out there who is trying to sell their book.
The good news is that most authors don't do much work when it comes to promoting their book. They just figure the publisher will do that for them. The truth is that publishing is a very tough business, and they don't want to spend any money on marketing for something that aren't completely sure about.
So that means for many authors, their books rarely get any press, or any notice by people. But with just a few creative ideas, you can market your book to the masses, and make them sit up and take notice. That is what you are going to learn in this article.
Naturally, you're going to need to have a website. Don't just make it a static website, make it a blog as well. And update your blog at least twice a week. Don't worry about what to write about, just write something a couple times a week. This should slowly get you a readership, to which you can market your book.
Setting up a Facebook page is also important. Facebook gets millions of visitors per day. Once your Facebook page is set up, get as many friends as possible. Just sort around and find people with similar interests. This can have a huge snowball effect. Once you've got plenty of friends, start linking your Facebook page to your blog. Every time you put an update on your blog, all your Facebook friends will know, and many of their friends will know as well.
Another idea is to start your own You Tube channel. You don't have to do anything high tech, just make a couple videos a week of you talking about whatever interests you. Just like your blog, over time, this will build up a following. And at the end of every video, remind people that you're an author, and that you've got a book for sale. Make sure to always include the link to your book page at Amazon.
Naturally, the more blog posts, You Tube videos, and Facebook updates you create, the more "buzz" will be generated for your book. It may be slow to start, but if you keep at it, you'll generate some decent sales after a while. Think of this as something you spend ten or twenty minutes a day doing.
You'll find this method is an excellent way to market your book on your own. If you keep doing this, after a while you'll have a huge following. And this will convince the publishers to start spending some real marketing money on your book, and all your subsequent books.
