Let's Get Back To The Kids

Although I feel the Internet should be used, in regards to children for education, I acknowledge there are other types of websites designed for children as well. Yes, I decided to give the kids a break and acknowledge they deserve to be able to play online once in a while just as do the the adults. I also realized the Internet is the greatest tool ever made to satisfy a child s curiosity as to what the world is all about. It not only satisfies their current questions, solving many of their mysteries, but encourages them to explore any area of life they wish. Of course they will need the help of mom or dad, but is there a better way for parents to spend quality time with their child than to help them explore life and the world around them. Yes, sooner or later all children will become computer literate, causing mom and dad to loose their playmate. But, in the meantime it is the greatest way to spend time as a family.

Personally, I really don't think there is a child who doesn't like dinosaurs. There are numerous sites which provide information about every type of dinosaur that ever lived. There are online story books and animations which allow a child to learn virtually everything there is to know about these creatures. Do your kids like animals? There are hundreds of sites which will allow you children to learn about every species of animals on the planet. There are pictures and information which are designed to teach a child all about every kind of critter. You will also find zoo sites telling about every zoo in the country. Encouraging your child to read is very important. It would be fair to say the Internet gives access to thousands of book written for children. These books are available for purchasing at very reasonable prices. Many books can be read by your child online and are fully illustrated.

If you are a mom reading this article, let me ask you a question. Does you child like to help you cook? If so, find some simple recipes online which can give both of you some time together in the kitchen. Another suggestion is to find a recipe which is simple, containing steps your son or daughter can complete themselves. Give them the opportunity to cook a dish, mostly on their own, which will be served to the entire family at dinner. Most kids want to help mom around the house. There are sites which offer small household appliances for kids. Let them become involved, help them feel they are making a difference by doing some of the simple chores. When selecting sites for your child to explore, use the same tool your child uses. Use the imagination of a child. Forget for a moment you are an adult. It is sad, but an adult's imagination can be too restrictive. On the other hand, a child sees the world with an open mind. They possess unlimited curiosity about virtually everything in life. Try looking through their eyes. You may find yourself learning with them.
