What You Should Know Before Playing Roulette

It is said that the best way to play roulette, is not to play it at all. Why? Roulette is a game of sheer chance. The wheels are almost always perfectly balanced, and cracks in grooves and so on are very rare. The number 23 might as well show all night long for all the wheel cares. Roulette is also a slow process. You either bet on red, black, specific numbers, odd, even, first second and third half of the wheel or half the numbers. If you bet on a specific number and win, you get 35:1. Bet a dollar on 23 and win, you have 35 bucks. This means, that you will have to lose consecutively for 35 times, and have one win, to break even. So if you have hours on you hands, betting small on one number for a long time could be one strategy. This varies with European and American roulette because of the double zero. Bet on red or black, and win, you get double your bet. Bet 10 bucks on red and win, you have 20. This is a bit more risky business since you can bet larger sums and feel more secure. Remember, roulette is sheer chance, red might as well show the entire time. Bet on the first, second or third half of the wheel you get 2:1. Bet 10 bucks on the first half, the ball lands on 1, you have 30. Again, almost the same as betting on a color. You can also bet on half the numbers of the wheel, this gives the same payout as betting on colors. There simply isn't a fool proof strategy for roulette, one might have a streak, or a downfall, either way, I prefer a more skill based system. Don't forget the casino edge on roulette as well. Its around 5.76, so the casino expects to win around 6 dollars for every hundred you wager.
