Giving away short free reports is a good way to get subscribers on to your list.

Here are 8 steps to help you write a free valuable report as part of your internet marketing business.

1. FIND A COMMON PROBLEM. Find out what problems people are having which is relevant to your specific niche. Search online and find out what people need answers to.You can search in forums or try Bt Yahoo Answers. Remember your report needs to be 5-15 pages long and you must choose a common problem. The idea is that you want as many people as possible to subscribe to your list. If the problem is not a common one, it obviously means that not many people will be looking for the solution.

2. DO YOUR RESEARCH. People are lazy or too busy to spend a long time searching for an answer to their problem. If you research the problem within forums, you will find the content you need for your free report, if you don't know it already. Yes, your potential subscriber could do the same but as I said before they want a solution RIGHT NOW.

3. TALK ABOUT THE PROBLEM and how it affects the individual. Does it limit them? Does it cause them pain? What does it cost them in money, time or well being? How does it affect their life? What emotions do they experience when they have this problem?

4. TALK ABOUT THE SOLUTION. As you have covered the different effects of the problem, you then explain the effects of actually solving the problem. How will their lives be better? What are the benefits? How will they feel?

5. DELIVER THE SOLUTION. Make sure you give excellent value in your free report by delivering the solution and so keeping your promise.

6. WRITE YOUR HEADLINE and your introduction after you have written your report. It will be easier and of better quality as you will be able to read through them and have a clear idea of what you need to cover. It is fine to write these first as long as you go over them once your report is written. You can then edit them if you have missed out any important points.Your headline is very important. It will be the reason why someone will want to download your report. Make sure you mention how the solution will benefit the individual.

7. CONVERT YOUR REPORT TO PDF to make its delivery easy. Once your report is ready for download you will need an autoresponder system to deliver it to anyone who subscribes to your list by leaving their name and email address.
