Creating a Bestselling Campaign
A book is a great lead generator if you can promote it well. However, nobody’s going to help you promote your book just to promote it because there’s not enough money in it, especially a physical book.
Also, nobody’s going to invite you to do a teleseminar with them because even if you get on there and you sell a $37 or a $15 book, the individual whose invited you to do the teleseminar is only going to make five whopping bucks. They could make a lot more money doing other things.
You could also perform your own teleseminars and if you’re thinking of doing this, I would recommend InstantTeleseminars.com (depending on how many people you’re going to have on the call.) Eagle Teleconferencing located at http://www.eagletel.com or TheBasementVentures.com. They are all very good.
When you’re looking for some places to promote your book, the most common places are Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
However, simply by adding your book to these websites is not the best choice. Actually, the best way to promote your book, make a lot of sales and get a lot of people promoting it, is to do a bestseller campaign. Who would I have run my bestseller campaign? I would probably get a guy named Warren Whitlock to manage and run my campaign if I was going to do that again.
I would pick an official launch date when you’re going to be announcing your book because you want to establish your team ahead of time to help you out and get things rolling. When you pick a date and you say you’re going to do a bestseller campaign. More people are going to jump onboard than they would otherwise. The reason for that is because people love being part of something. So, you tell everybody you’re going to be doing with this book. You also will want to specifically design the campaign for everybody to sell the book on a specific day.
The goal is of course, to get to the number one spot on Amazon or Barnes and Noble or whichever place you’re focused on. Barnes and Noble’s going to be a whole lot easier than Amazon. So, when you drive your traffic to Barnes and Noble, it's not going to take as many sales as it would take to get to the top of Amazon. If you can manage to get to the top of either one of those based upon hourly sales, you can call it an Amazon bestseller or a Barnes and Noble bestseller. That’s all it’s going to take and that's why you want to have everybody mailing out at a specific time for you to make things really start to happen.
You could also buy your way there if you’ve got the budget in place. You could get a whole team together and have everybody just keep on buying your book. That’s exactly what the Clintons and Kennedys did. They got their books to the number one position on the New York Times best seller list. Now I’m not exactly telling you to do this and I wouldn’t recommend it. However, it does make good sense. It’s not going to take you much to make that happen and you should be able to build more leads from it. So, if you’re looking to do that, I would highly recommend doing a campaign.
A big launch like that is going to start building your popularity which is exactly what you want. This will get you credibility in your area of expertise.
If people start seeing your book at number one, it’ll help you to do more joint ventures. That's the strategy and the thinking that I want you to have because that’s going to help you in the long run.
