Why Don't You Have Double Glazing?
There are no excuses for not upgrading your windows…
Double glazing is one of the most important innovations for homes this century. The double layer of glass provides a curtain of protection from thieves, from the elements, for keeping homes insulated and of course from bears.

So why haven't you got double glazing?

Here are some common excuses:

Too Expensive

This may be fair enough as not everyone can afford to splash out a few thousand pounds on new fancy windows, but if you think about the money you will save in the future on energy, especially as prices are going up and up, it won't seem quite such a stretch. Double glazing will increase the value of your house too as it is always a desirable thing sought by house buyers.

There's nothing wrong with my old windows

Compared to modern double glazed windows, old single glazed windows are significantly less secure. Breaking into a single glazed window by breaking the glass or jimmying the frame is particularly easy. New windows have a much more advanced locking mechanism that makes it harder to open without a key. Plus, just having this type of windows will put off most criminals from even trying when they see your home from the street.

But they're so hard to clean

Double glazed windows are no harder to clean than single glazed ones. In fact, thanks to the way most of them are designed to be able to be opened inwards as well as outwards just to make it more convenient to clean, they are often actually easier to clean than old windows. Some modern windows can even be fitted that have special glass that cleans itself. This glass is designed at a molecular level to help dirt and grease slide off rather than stick to the window. This is especially helpful for windows in flats.

Can't be bothered with the hassle

There is always going to be an element of upheaval when removing old window frames and fitting new ones. There is no real way to escape this unless you go on holiday and leave someone else to look after your home. But if this is the only thing that puts you off getting double glazing quotes then you should be able to convince yourself to put up with the inconvenience for all the security and added insulation they will bring.

Double glazing is something that every home should have for many reasons but there will always be things that put you off or make it difficult. Hopefully this article has at least offered you some food for thought.
