Lose Stomach Weight With Diet and Exercise, not Gimmicks

by Fred Morris

Many people want to lose tummy fat fast. Often they have been burdened by unwanted weight for years or even decades and are willing to do anything to get rid of their spare tire. Many times these poor souls look to late night infomercials and weight loss gimmicks with devastating results.

But you won't lose that tummy fat with gimmicky shock pads or products that allow you to watch tv from your easy chair while you "exercise". The stomach is the most difficult location on the body to loose inches from. It is nearly impossible to target the visceral fat deep under the skin that surrounds the middle which is why many people never lose tummy fat with fad diets like Atkins or The infamous South Beach Diet. But, hope is not lost. It only takes a few changes to your routine to lose that stubborn belly fat.

First, you need to know how your body processes the food you eat. It is a mistake to think that all fat is bad and will make you put on extra pounds instead of losing them.

But that isn't true; there are good fats and bad fats. By eating the good fats instead of the bad fats, you will be able to lose tummy fat much more quickly than by restricting your food intake which will leave you hungry and eventually lead to binge eating.

The main thing you can do to lose tummy fat fast is to exercise. Experts agree that you need to exercise regularly and that cardiovascular exercise is the best for losing stubborn tummy fat. You should try to get at least 15 to 20 minutes five days a week of cardio exercise to get into a healthy habit that will help you lose stomach weight and increase your energy.

Ideally, you want to get 45 minutes of heart pumping cardio a day reaching your peak heart rate after 15 minutes of warm up exercise like yoga. It isn't necessary to buy a health club membership or spend outlandish sums on expensive exercise equipment to get your heart rate elevated.

Some of the best cardio exercises are jogging, dancing, fast walking, swimming, biking and stair stepping. All of these are possible for most people without a monetary investment. Staying active by spending 15 minutes a day running up and down your stairs or cleaning and organizing will speed up losing stomach weight.

Besides healthier eating and increased exercise, you can help lose belly fat by reducing your stress level. Stress causes you to accumulate fat around your mid section. Stress will affect your eating habits and your energy level so this step is really crucial to your success. So, get focused, eat some fruit and run up the steps a few times.
