Now, if you're not able to cancel the reservation at all, you won't be able to refund the reservation fee you have deposited, which is usually the full rate of the room for the first night. Explaining the trip cancellation to the hotel personnel can usually get you out of the cancellation fees. If not, you can always try to speak with the manager. Even if the cancellation fee isn't removed, the next best thing to aim for is to get a discount on the fee.

Rearrange your travel itinerary

If your trip is business in nature, you will need to contact your business associates and tell you about the trip cancellation. If the business trip is urgent, it would be best to get another flight from another airline. It's better to spend a little more on the air travel than to lose potential clients or give off the wrong impression to business associates. If your trip is for leisure, you need to reorganize your travel itinerary. It may be necessary to rebook the tours or admission tickets you've purchased. Expect to pay a small fee for the rebooking but haggle if possible to waive or lower the fees.
