How to Make Your Bath an Inviting Getaway

by Patrick McBee

In today’s high stress society, it has never been more important to create an oasis in your home where you can get away from it all, at least for a little while. For many people, this means creating a luxury bathroom where they can enjoy the spa treatment right in the privacy of their own homes. If you need a place to unwind, this may be the best room to start in. Here are some tips that will help you create your own pleasant oasis right in the middle of your home.

1. Focus first on the tub. If you have a standard model, you can replace it with a much more inviting garden type tub. These are usually much deeper and make better use of the space that they take up. Even if you have a limited space, you should be able to find this type of tub to fit. They also make models that are triangular in shape and can fit in a corner to maximize the space in which you are working.

If possible, find a tub that has a spa feature for even greater relaxation. The jets will massage away all of your troubles every time you get in. There are many new features that are available for the common tub, and they can increase the overall value of your home.

2. Consider a spa shower. Instead of standing in the tub every day, you can install a separate shower in the room .This is easier if you have a lot of space to work with, but hiring a contractor can help with large and small spaces to help create your perfect bathroom remodel. These stand up showers often feature multiple jets that truly make shower time relaxing and much more inviting.

3. Let your lighting set the mood. Harsh lights and bathrooms have no business together. Install new fixtures that make use of soft light, or install a new window in the bathroom to take advantage of natural lighting. If you need to use your bathroom for putting on makeup, install special makeup lights near your vanity. You can really get the feel of a relaxing spa with just the right combination of lighting.

4. The wall color matters too. Instead of harsh white, go for a soft neutral paint that will complete the whole relaxation scheme. If you have a particularly favorite color, use this as a main palette for your bathroom. Soft blues and greens are usually associated with relaxation, but stay away from any overly bright colors or harsh reds and yellows. Subconsciously, they will keep you from feeling relaxed.

5. Don’t forget the toilet. Newer modern toilets are much more comfortable and feature ergonomic seats and designs. While no one really likes to talk about it, we do spend quite a lot of time throughout our lives using one. You may as well make it as comfortable of an experience as you possibly can.

Bring relaxation back into your life. Let the stresses and troubles of the outside world melt away as you bring serenity into your home. Using these tips to upgrade your bathroom can bring just that in this fast paced world. Anything is possible when turning your colorless and mundane bathroom into a brilliant, breathtaking oasis.
