Biodegradable bags are fast becoming the number one choice for branded carriers around the globe, with many businesses and corporate companies opting for these over the usual plastic carrier bags. The biodegradable type are much better for the environment, as they are designed to gradually degrade over a short amount of time, when compared to standard plastic carriers that last for many years and contribute to the build up of toxic chemicals in land fills.
There are two kinds of degradable carrier bags on the market today. The first being a biodegradable bag. This bag is made from a natural material, which once manufactured, starts to degrade slowly. These are generally the most expensive, and are not ideal if some of the stock needs to be shelved for a lengthy amount of time. The second type is a degradable carrier bag. These are simply a plastic carrier bag which has a special agent added to it during the manufacturing process. This agent gradually breaks down the plastic material over a reasonable amount of time, and eventually degrades into a harmless vapour and dust, none of which cause any damage to the environment or have any lasting effects. These are the cheaper option and probably the most popular. The quality of this type of bag is the same as a standard plastic carrier bag, the only difference being that they are far more environmentally friendly.
These biodegradable bags are becoming a popular choice in todays business industry, as a way of promoting their brands and services. They can be printed and personalised with company logos and wording, and are an excellent product for use in stores, trade shows and open days. It gives the opportunity for businesses to advertise themselves to hundreds, if not thousands of people attending the event, as well as being a handy item to carry any brochures and literature in, which they have been given. Most companies do not think of using this promotional method, and you often find just one company who benfits from it.
Most government departments now use biodegradable bags over standard plastic one, due to new legislation. They have got to be seen to be leading the way to a greener future. There are all kinds of eco friendly products available these days, for both domestic and commercial purposes. They can come in the form of recycled pens, desk accessories, clothing as well as energy saving products. We are all becoming more aware of the damage we are causing the earth. If more people, and businesses made a few changes to their daily practices and changed their habits with the products they bought and used, the world would be a safer, greener and healthier place to live.
