Yoga
Yoga is defined as an art of uniting mind, body and spirit or soul. Yoga has its origin in India some 5000 years ago. It has its own philosophy and rules written by Patanjali in Yoga Sutra. There are many types of yoga but Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Raja Yoga and Bhakti Yoga are the four main yogas practised widely. Yoga as a means of enlightenment is common to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism and has also influenced many spiritual and religious practices all over the world. Some of the Hindu texts where we can find the basis of yoga include Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Upanishads, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Bhagavad Gita.Now in modern days, Yoga is used in the field of medicine. Rather swallowing lot of capsules and tablets it is easy and harmless way of curing diseases. Yoga has physical exercise and breathing exercise along with meditation. Scientists have done researches in curing diseases using Yoga. Yoga can relax body, mind and soul. Science says there is connection between body and mind. In ancient Yoga it has a proof that there is connection between nervous system in our body, our mind and the environment. In recent days it has been scientifically proven that Yoga can reduce blood pressures and stress and increase or decrease digestion and sleep, increase concentration, coordination and flexibility.Also, Yoga has been chosen as an alternate therapy for critical conditions like cancer, diabetes, asthma and AIDS. Continuous practice of Yoga can reduce the pain caused by these body killing diseases. Yoga for cancer patient, can give relaxation to their body and ability to face the chemotherapy. Yoga can be given to all the patients in the hospital. Stanford hospital in US gives Yoga practice to all the patients.Yoga has shown good results in treating blood pressures. Practicing Yoga activates the autonomic nervous system which is activated during tension. Yoga helps to reduce the tension and blood pressure. Asthma can also be controlled by practicing regularly the Sahaja yoga.So in modern days Yoga plays a major role in treating people of different diseases
