Air Travel In India
Air travel in India is now becoming cheaper and sophisticated. It shows the growth level of people traveling through air in India and also its needs have been increased. There was a comment from IATA Director General and CEO Mr. Giovanni Bisignani in a meeting held at New Delhi, hosted by Confederation of Indian Industry. What he said was “The Indian air transport sector is among the most vibrant and fastest growing in the world, but it could be a much greater catalyst for economic growth if critical bottlenecks in the system are removed.”The IATA has given India five defy to develop Indian air transportation. They are simplifying business through efficient use of the new technologies, giving commercial freedom, enhancing safety, reasonable taxation and immediate fortification in the infrastructure. According to the growth rate forecast of IATA, the international air traffic to India has grown to 8.4 between 2004 and 2009.So to increase more and more air traffic to India, the sophistication and comforts must be increased and costs for the flights has to be revised. Let’s have a look at the challenges in detail. Simplifying business through efficient use of technologies can be implemented in issuing of tickets online. Also removing paper records for freight processing, RF identification for baggage clearance and using bar code recognizer for boarding passes. If these are implemented in air ports the passenger will not face any unwanted delays. To have a commercial freedom the government must allow liberalization between countries for business. Also increase the number of services to different countries and promote employment opportunities. To enhance the safety to the passengers, all Indian flight services are committed to IATA’s Operational Safety Audit Program (IOSA). Reasonable taxation can be implemented by reinvesting the taxes that are collected for service tax fee for landing and airport navigation again in development of the sector. Regarding the infrastructure the airport and the air space has to be increased to attract more gainful airways. At present the infrastructure for the airports in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkatta are inadequate to handle volumes of passengers and flights. So the air travel in India is growing every day to face the needs of the international and domestic passengers.
