For many people living in one the great cities in Europe, working the nine to five and gritting their teeth in traffic jams, moving to a Mediterranean island is a blissful dream. Work and family commitments as well as language concerns put these dreams in check for many people, but for some this dream has been so strong that they have worked towards making it a reality. <br/><br/> This article aims to give you an idea of what it is like to live on a Mediterranean island so that you can have a bit more information if you are considering taking the plunge down to the 'med'. <br/><br/> Great weather <br/><br/> One thing you probably know already is that the islands in the Mediterranean are lucky enough to enjoy some of the best weather in the world. Many of the islands, such as Cyprus, Malta and Majorca enjoy about 300 days of sunshine a year and average winter temperatures in the mid twenties. Imagine waking up and being confident that it's going to be hot and sunny. This is practically guaranteed living on a Mediterranean island. <br/><br/> Multicultural <br/><br/> With the Mediterranean Sea connecting more than twenty countries on 3 continents you will not be surprised to hear that Mediterranean islands tend to be very multicultural places to live. Living on an island like Cyprus you will come across people from all three continents daily meaning that you will feel more like a citizen of the world than a member of your city's commuting hoards. You will be able to experience a wide range of cuisines, music, cultural festivals and languages all on your island. <br/><br/> Good place for business <br/><br/> Another thing about living on a Mediterranean island like Cyprus for example is that they tend to be excellent places for people to set up businesses. The nature of the government in Cyprus leans towards favouring new businesses and offers a low rate of tax. Many people have started a Cyprus company and seen great profits not only from business on the island itself, but from the tremendous trade that takes place between the 3 continents. Creating a Cyprus offshore company in general proves to be successful for many people moving there. <br/><br/> Healthy lifestyle <br/><br/> Resident of Mediterranean islands in general enjoy a healthier lifestyle than those in the rest of Europe.
