Losing Golf Balls? Use One Of These

by Steve Stelzner

Imagine being in the 1500's. Yea, i know, kinda hard to do. But that's when golf started, and the only equipment used were golf balls made of wood and of course the golf club. And if you weren't rich, balls were expensive due to their construction and thus us common folk only had a few. But due to their construction they were very durable.

Golfers now have a wider variety of golf balls to choose from. Golfers own many balls, and that's not at all unusual. In addition, it's not unusual for a golfer to lose many balls. Unless, of course, they own a golf ball retriever.

Many golfers wonder how they ever got along without having one. A long metal pole with telescopic properties is one type of golf ball retriever. Most golfers that hit the ball in the water often use it. The tool is put in the water and the golfer is able to scoop out the ball. For retrieving an otherwise lost ball from the water it is probably the most popular style.

Another style of golf ball retriever is a metal pole with a hoop on the bottom. The golf ball is picked off the bottom via the bottom. Many golfers suffer from back pain from the repeated bending involved in golfing. With the use of this golf 'hoop', there is much less bending involved.

Golf ball retrievers are not just for water hazards. They are valuable for retrieving your ball from tall grass, sand, or even mud. There is a variety of golf ball retrievers. You can use the trapper(one style) to get the ball out of the grass. Another style, the hinged head golf ball retriever, comes in different lengths and is used to scoop the ball out of the water or tall grass. Here comes your ball if you managed to tighten the lock-turn mechanism around that darn ball, after you first managed to get your hoop around that ball of yours.

An inexpensive yet very efficient golf ball retriever is the round head retriever. It comes in a 15' length and has a plastic ring on the end. The ball can be picked up from either side of the ring. The ring works almost like a magnet preventing the golf ball from falling out.

As you may already know, golf ball retrievers are a handy tool that every golfer should have. They can fold into your pocket since their size ranges from portable to large. Once you've had one, you won't know how you ever got along without it.
