What To Do In London

by Tamara Jacobs

Planning a trip to London? Whether it's theatre, nightlife, markets, or adventure you're seeking, you are sure to find it in this buzzing city. Here are a few suggestions of how you might like to spend your time.

Theatre:

London is known for its magnificent theatre. With such a wide selection of venues and plays to choose from it'd be difficult for theatre lovers to get bored. Like any big theatre town, London shows the classics (Les Mis), the popular (Jersey Boys), and the lesser known (off West End). The best part is, going to the theatre doesn't have to be expensive. With vendor stands all around Leicester Square, people can get rush seats for under £20.

Clubbing:

While London doesn't have the nightlife of a city like New York City, with its 24-hour subway and "city that never sleeps" attitude, it does have a lot to offer. The trick is to have a plan, because there is nothing worse than going for a long dinner in Chelsea and then realising if you want to hit the clubs, you're going to have to shuffle into cabs to get anywhere good. For a bit of edgy fun, Shoreditch and Camden are always good shouts, for something a bit more posh try central London clubs like Cookoo's, Maddox, or the Wellington, for something trendy go to the Shoreditch House, and for something 80's try Maggies.

Balloon rides:

For those people interested in taking tourism to another level, you might enjoy a hot air balloon ride over the city. Launch points tend to be around the city's edge, but if you choose, you can certainly fly over it. Alternatively, there is the option of flying over the surrounding counties, to get a real feel for the English countryside.

Picnic in the park:

Nobody loves picnicking more than Londoners. After all we are very proud of the vast green space we have in the centre of our urban jungle. With pockets of park all over the city it's easy to enjoy the outdoors in the nice weather. Pick a spot, grab some friends, food and wine and make a day of it. While some Londoners take their picnicking very seriously with expensive baskets, caviar and champagne, all you really need are some nibbles and good company.

There are so many ways to enjoy time in London. No matter what your interests, there is something for everyone in this fabulous city.
