Part 2 - Fishing Tackle - Fishing Lures - Cedros Island Fishing
Another grand fishing tale introduced to you by Yo-Zuri fishing lures and fishing tackle.
The most anticipated portion of the trip was that we were preparing to test out the ultimate trial run for our brand new fishing tackle which contained Sashimi Big Game Series of Poppers, Sliders and Diver fishing lures along with a prototype Darter lures that we have been working on for future enhancement.
All four of the rods I got were rigged along with these specialized variations of lures, as all the others was going to be fishing using live bait in and around the kelp beds. I made a decision to fish around the steep shores of barnacles not to mention kelp beds casting as well as retrieving for Yellowtail, Calico Bass and White Sea Bass, which can all be ensnared with Yo-Zuri fishing lures of different styles, colors and depths.
When we finally began our first day it was late afternoon around 3PM, so we had several hours just before sunset to fish our beloved topwater and subsurface lures for such evening surface feeders.
We had been fishing for Yellowtail around the kelp as well as deep-water drop offs down the cliffs of Cedros. I had been casting a Sashimi Slider fishing lure in Yo-Zuris' brand new Metallic Gold/Black finish as the fish werefeasting on anchovies & sardines, so the profile and color matched flawlessly.
As I stated already the standard offering within these areas is live bait just like Sardines or Anchovies that slowly drifted by the kelp along with the tide, however I was here to try to get them with hard bait lures. The actual owner, Jose, told me that there would be no reason at all why they would not strike at these types of hard bait fishing lures if offered the opportunity. Actually that was the understatement of the week because we all snagged as much fish as expected with excellent weather plus a wonderful host.
We drifted down the calm surface and as we were blind casting the yellowtail would literally swim right all the way to the boat following my lure and then dive beneath it and swim off to the depths never to appear again. As soon as I became aware of just how the fish wanted to feed, which was with a faster retrieve and also using a steady rhythm, it was Game On. Especially with such aggressive feeders and strong willed fighters on Med-light SW 20 pound Spinning gear. They put up an awesome battle with strong and long runs that ripped drag and tested out the very best of fishing tackle to itsborders.
