Purchase Your Grand Canyon Heli for the July 4th Holiday

by Lea Fallon

July 4th holiday week will quickly be here and now is the time to book that Grand Canyon heli tour. Flights depart from Vegas and South Rim and you can fly to the top or the base if you like. Get more info. Check out this article.

Book Online For Convenience And Price

The easiest way to secure your tickets is to book online. This offers you the most convenience, and you also receive the benefit of better prices. The tour operators prefer selling tickets online, because it is faster, and much easier for everyone involved. This means that they put their best deals online, and it's not unusual to find ticket prices that are up to 35% reduced when compared to standard retail.

Because you can book online, it's super easy to book in advance. One thing you should know about Las Vegas flights, is that if you wait too long, ticket prices will only increase. Generally, I advise people to book one or two weeks prior to their tour date, and you definitely don't want to book within 48 or 24 hours of the day that you intend to fly.

You can book West Rim and South Rim tours quickly and efficiently online. The difference is not just the location, but also the type of tours that you can book. Vegas tours are permitted to land at the top and bottom of the Canyon, whereas South Rim tours are flyover only. Flights operate during daytime hours, every day of the week, and they depart every hour.

Grand Canyon West Rim Tours From Las Vegas

Flyover or landing tour, the choice is yours. However, I do have a strong recommendation, and that is to take a landing tour. Why? Because there is so much more on offer. A great thing about Vegas helicopters is that you get to fly over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead en route to landing.

The top of the rim is where you'll find walking paths, food and drink, viewing areas and the Skywalk. To see the Skywalk is an incredible thing. Made from glass and steel, it extends 70ft over the edge of the rim, and through the transparent floor, you will be looking down for 4000ft to the bottom of the Canyon.

The most popular tour is the bottom landing one, and that's because there's a lot to do at the bottom of the Canyon. You can disembark the helicopter, enjoy a champagne picnic, and even take a boat tour to explore some of the river.

Naturally, you could take both, which would deliver an over-the-top Canyon adventure.

South Rim Tours

The small town of Tusayan is the gateway to the South Rim. You can start your tour from here, or if you're going to be in Vegas, you could take a one hour plane flight to the airport in Tusayan, before boarding your helicopter.

As mentioned, these helicopters can't land inside the canyon, but they make up for it with the sightseeing. If you go with the basic 30-minute tour, you'll zip form the South Rim to the North Rim and back via the Dragoon Corridor. The extended tour, which I highly recommend, includes an additional leg that goes out to the eastern boundary of the Grand Canyon National Park. On this one, you will see an impressive 75% of the entire Canyon, which is well worth the ticket price.

Conclusion

You now know that you have plenty of options, but again, make sure that you book soon, because you don't want to miss out on the opportunity to celebrate the 4th of July in style. Book online, and make sure that you confirm with your credit card, because this will mean that you get the best prices. Aim for a landing tour at the West Rim, or the extended tour at the South Rim, and you'll be set for a sightseeing journey that you won't forget.
