Bear in mind that eagerness to please is part of the Labrador Retriever’s nature. That in itself is already a plus when it comes to Labrador training. There’s no greater proof to this than having most guide dogs to the disabled being Labrador Retrievers. So the only issue to contend with here is utilizing a method that would make it most convenient for your Lab to understand what you expect of it. In such cases, it is always best to start obedience training as early as possible. Puppy training works best when done hand in hand with positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement is the simple method of rewarding your dog for displaying good attributes and making sure that it is aware too when it is acting in a manner contrary to what you expect of it. To help your Lab understand the basis of obedience, start by introducing it to simple commands. Having it learn the basics will serve as a stable foundation for good character in the future. This would most certainly help your Lab go through the socialization process with ease. The importance of the socialization process is based on having your dog get used to new sights and sounds. It would also work to both you and your Lab’s benefit by sticking to a schedule. The routine of it all will help your Lab learn things faster. Another thing about Labrador training is that auditory commands work well with physical practice. Coupling your actions with varying vocal commands will help your dog understand the difference between doing something that is desirable and doing something that is unacceptable. Labrador training is simpler than what most people think. All it entails is patience and discipline on your part. Labrador Retrievers are extremely intelligent dogs and will go to great lengths to please their masters – something Lab owners should be more than thankful for. Dogs of this breed are good natured. All they need from their owners is a little guidance. Something any responsible dog owner can provide. Do so and the fruits of your labor will be well worth it.
