Ecommerce solutions have become one of the most important possessions for many online businesses. They help marketing products as well as make the selling cycle easier for many.

An effective ecommerce solution can turn you businesses around with the right amount of marketing and advertising. The effectiveness of ecommerce solutions depends on a lot of factors ranging from the actual software used for the ecommerce solutions, the design of the website, the number of additional features implemented to make the shopping process easier, product placement, market feasibility, product popularity, positive reviews for the product etc.

Although most of the factors mentioned above are as important as the other, the one that can be handpicked among them are; website design and the software used to create the ecommerce solution. The reason being; if a visitor visits a website, and does not get impressed with the website or the website design is too confusing then there is less chance of getting a sale. Also, if the website is too slow; then the patience of the visitor dies out and the visitor might visit another website (most probably a competitor’s website). So while choosing a ecommerce solution make sure that the website is easy to use and has a good look to maintain customer’s interest.

But what design is correct design?

There is never a design that is perfect. A good design includes easy navigation, good color coordination, proper product placement and easily updatable shopping cart. The design should be made according to the potential visitors expected. So a business selling baby toys online could have soft colors which can cater to mothers like baby pink, etc. Similarly a company selling computers or related products can have metallic colors like blue, grey etc.

That’s done, now what?

Now that you have a properly designed website with good software to back it up, the most important stage of your online venture begins – Marketing.

It’s good enough to have a website selling products but what is its use if no one knows about it. The internet is full of websites with lots of potential competition. So it becomes imperative to stay above the competition by appearing on top of all search engines for all your products.

Search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN have always been the top portals for many people who use it to search products to buy online. In fact more than 65% of online sales are made through search engines results. So it is very important for your website to appear on top of searches engine results. The method of putting your website on top of search engine results is called search engine optimizations wherein your website is engineered with keywords/keyphrases to make it appear on major search engines.
