What is an article directory? Well, they are websites where you can submit your articles for distribution over the world web. The articles are usually submitted by the owner, who, incidentally may not necessarily be the writer, of the article.

The object is usually to promote either yourself or your website. This is achieved by the article directory website allowing you to put your contact information in a resource box at the end of your article.

Articles submitted by article directories are a great way to get yourself into the public eye. Once someone has read your article, and found it to be of sufficient interest, they will hopefully follow your links in the resource box back to your website, where they can find further information about you or your product.

Obviously, the eventual consequence is that they purchase your product or service, so the higher the quality of your article the more you will be considered the expert in your field and the more chance you have of a sale.

Although it is more advantageous to you to know about what you are writing about, it is not compulsory. Careful though, a good quality article writer can be expensive. Saying that, a good quality writer will pay dividends through your extra income from what he writes.

Another good outcome from quality articles is that other readers of your article in the same field as you, will want to use your material in their sites. Since they have to provide the name or source from where they obtained their material, your name and website will receive even more publicity and more income for you.

There are hundreds if not thousands of article submission sites out there, use as many as you can to get your articles seen. The more your article is seen, the more others will use it and eventually you will become the expert in your particular niche.

You may want to consider using an article submission site. These sites will, usually for a small monthly fee, submit your articles to other article submission sites on your behalf, thus giving you more time to write even more articles. The more you write, the more you get known, the more money you make.
