Tour operators will be offering special deals this Black Friday, allowing you to see the Canyon from either Vegas, or the South Rim in Arizona. The flights that take off from Arizona lift off just outside of the South Rim, and the ones that depart from Vegas can get to the Canyon in under an hour. So what's it going to be? South Rim or West Rim?

Vegas Air Tours

Vegas offers a diverse range of tours, designed to suit any budget and touring schedule. You can take an air-only tour, or you can take a landing tour. One of the great perks associated with Vegas flights is that you get to fly over Lake Mead and Hoover Dam en route to the Canyon.

Air-only tours are fantastic if you want to see panoramic scenic views of the Canyon, but if you want some thrills and added fun, then book a landing tour instead. You can fly to the West Rim on an airplane too if you don't want to fly on a helicopter. Landing tours go to the bottom and/or the top where you can do the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Airplane tours take the same route as helicopters on the flyover, although they do fly at higher altitudes.

Tusayan Air Tours

Tours of the South Rim originate in the tiny town of Tusayan, Arizona, which sits just outside the park. You can fly out there from Vegas if you're not already near Arizona, and the flight will take around 60 minutes. You can't do a landing tour at the South Rim because the National Park Service bans it. Still, the tours at the South Rim are definitely worth it, especially the 50-minute flight that covers about 75 percent of the entire National Park.

The tour is available by plane or helicopter, and goes out to the North Rim, the eastern park boundary, and back to the South Rim. One thing to keep in mind is that the tour helicopters can carry six passengers while the planes can carry 19. If you have several people in your group, you may need to take the airplane tour so everyone can experience the tour together.

To get your Black Friday discount, you need to book your tour online on that day. Booking your tour in advance is always a good idea anyway because it locks in your rate and secures your seats.
