How To Have An Environmentally Friendly Moving Day

With all the floods and other natural disasters troubling our world at the moment, it has awoken many of us to the threats of global warming. This has made us all more aware of all our carbon foot print and how what we do day to day has an impact on the world as a whole. We know that taking less flights helps, as does using less plastic bags and recycling where possible. But what can you do when you have a moving day coming up? All that paper and cardboard as well as the big 'gas guzzling' truck that will need to be used will ramp up your carbon footprint for the year dramatically. Here are a few things you can do to put your mind at ease. Use a Carbon Neutral Removal Company One of the biggest polluters our world has to deal with is our cars and trucks that zoom around the country every day belching out toxic fumes. What you can do to ensure your moving lorry does not add to this, is to only employ a moving company that either uses low emission vehicles, or has a carbon neutral policy. A carbon neutral policy means that their company as a whole makes sure they offset their pollution with an equivalent amount sequestered or offset. Take Less Trips The next thing you can do is to make sure you take as few trips as possible to move your stuff. Instead of taking two trips in your car, you could try instead to rent or borrow a van which can fit all your stuff in one go. Saves you time and saves the environment at the same time. Use Recycle Cardboard Another thing you can do is to use only recycled cardboard boxes to pack your stuff. You will go through a large number of packing boxes in the course of your move so making sure they are all recycled, and recycling them all again afterwards, will help save trees. There are many online stores which can provide you with these, as well as acid free tissue paper which is great for delicate packing. Overall you should be able to get through your moving day without upsetting the balance of the planets ecosystem too much. Just make sure you don't speed down the motorway or go on a holiday to Australia to celebrate. Unless of course you're moving to Australia...
