Getting Over Your Ex Girlfriend By Banishing Jealousy For Ever

by Glenn Devey

Jealousy is a powerful emotion, and not a particularly positive one either. If you're getting over your ex girlfriend and are prone to bouts of jealousy about what she's up to now, there's a simple two stage plan that you need to put into practice to have it completely disappear right now, for good.

1. Remove yourself from all situations that are likely to put you in a jealous state.

Sounds obvious, but how many people resort to almost stalking their ex to find out what she's up to, and with whom? If you've fallen into a pattern of behaviour like this, it needs to stop and stop right now. It's not helping anyone. If you need to, change gyms, bars, clubs, libraries or whatever place it is that you both still frequent. You'll probably make lots of new friends as a result too.

Change where you spend your time online too - remove her from your Facebook and LinkedIn contacts and delete her number from any quick dial or phone memory storage.

2. Every time you get a picture inside your mind that causes you to feel jealous, you can use this technique to make it melt away.

You need to imagine that there's a movie theatre inside your head, and you're sitting in it watching the internal film that's causing you a problem and stopping you from getting over your ex girlfriend.

a) Get the problem image - the one that causes you to the feel most jealous about her up on the screen. It can be moving or a still.

b) Now imagine that there's a huge brightness control on your armrest, and every time the offending scene gets shown, turn the brightness up until the screen has gone completely white-out.

c) Repeat this over and over again until the old scene can no longer be accessed - all you get is a white screen, preferably with white noise playing in the speakers.

d) You can also vary the viewing angle to the screen. Some guys find that changing the viewing angle to 45 degrees or something different makes it have less impact.

The key ingredient to making this work is speed - the faster you run it the better. Actually, if you think you're going too quickly, then you're doing it correctly. You're literally re-programming your brain to replace the offending image with one that just isn't watchable.

If you do it enough times, it will become automatic - similar to learning the chorus of a new song. Do it at least ten times without stopping and then see if you can get the old image back again - you'll probably find that it's much harder to do.

Just like working out, doing ten reps of these per day will make it impossible to watch after a couple of days. Freedom!!!

Getting over your ex girlfriend is tough enough, without showing yourself horror films over and over again inside your own head. Give it a go, it's your brain and your movie - make it serve you, not the other way around.
