Online House Sales In The UK

by Kirsten Hendrich

It's been said that over 90% of all people looking to buy, rent or sell their property use the internet to either find a suitable home, or to help sell their property. With this huge number, there's really no surprise in the fact that there are now a huge number of websites listing properties to rent or sell. There are plenty of options when it comes to property online; most estate agents will list their properties on both their websites and also property portals. Alternatively there are a few really good websites cropping up that offer direct home selling in the UK. Usually for a fee, much less than an estate agents commission, you can upload and list your property.

Property Listing Websites

These are perhaps the best places to start looking when trying to find your next rental property or house to buy. There are quite a few very large websites in the UK that syndicate properties from estate agents and list them on their sites. This gives the user a really good opportunity to search for the criteria they need, and find the properties that suit them with regards to location, price and many other features. These website also offer a great way of researching the marketing should you be considering buying or investing in the future. With a few clicks of the mouse it's very easy to see what properties are available in your area, and what asking prices they are demanding.

Private House Sales

For sale by owner websites are becoming more and more popular here in the UK, as people seek to find ways of cutting out the often large estate agent commissions. The average commission in the UK is 1.5% which could mean well over £3,000 for a lot of people. Most private house sale websites tend to charge a listing fee which is usually under £100. For this you'll receive a detailed listing with floor plans, photos and all the usual features. You should also be able to request additional marketing features such as 'for sale' boards and other marketing tools. I suppose the selling point here is that when you compare £100 to a potential £3,000 estate agent commission you have little to lose.

Information and Advice

The internet is awash with websites offering advice on everything. Property sales is no different, and there are many websites where you can glean useful bits of information on how best to go about selling your house. Also worth noting is that you can also check for the actual prices that the properties in your area have sold for. This is really useful stuff because often the prices advertised and the final amount of money exchanged can vary a fair amount. In short, the internet is a great place to do some quality research when it comes to selling your property.
