Southern California is home to one of America's largest Filipino American communities. The Filipino culture itself is a rich community, with a eclectic blend of cultural traits, family dynamics, and unique cuisine. Regardless, many of these individuals have immigrated from the Philippines at some point in their lives and a substantial amount, mainly younger generation, were born here in the United States. Culture & family are very important to the Filipino community; hence, the need for a dynamic news entity develops.

Balita Media, located in Glendale, CA, is a Filipino American publishing company, which produces two weekly publications. Firstly, Weekend Balita is distributed every Saturday; this publication features Filipino cultural news and general news. The US Asian Post respectively ships every Wednesday, and features general Fil-AM news, but also features celebrity gossip and various other news. Balita Media, the publisher of these two papers, have been providing persistent coverage to the Fil-Am community, and will continue to do so.
