How to Convert Your Leads into PI Agency Clients
Leads for a Private Investigator are everywhere if you have the methods needed to capture them for your business. The problem is that they often stay in the lead stage. What is needed is a way to take them from being interested in your services to taking the plunge and hiring you. Here are some ways that you can do just that.
Put yourself in their Shoes
In some way or another we are all consumers. When we need the services of another, we look for specific attributes that make us want to hire a provider. What are those attributes? Start with yourself. If you were in a predicament (philandering spouse, suspected embezzlement at your company, etc.) what would make you trust an outside person with your problem? What would it take for you to want to hire you?
Finding what would connect you to someone is where to begin when determining how to connect successfully with your potential clients. Consider what they must be feeling in order to call you in the first place. Then, capitalize not on their pain or distress, but on how you can ease that suffering.
Sell Ideas
Everyone today is selling products or expertise. Just look at commercials. They all say that their product is better than the next one. That's great, but how does that help you? This particular product may not even be suitable for you.
Instead of selling your expertise in surveillance, discuss your expertise at providing discreetness, compassion, tactfulness and answers. When people come to a private investigator, they have often tried other solutions that have failed. Don't give them the same speech as other companies. Seek to connect with them at the emotional level by promoting the positive results of your work instead of the work itself.
Create a Template
Don't wing it with your clients. They can tell and it makes you sound like a novice at best and, at worst, someone who doesn't have a clue of what they are doing. This is not a script but an outline of what questions to be sure to ask and what points to address during your first meeting with a client.
Use simple language that anyone can understand. Avoid big words and PI talk. Fancy words often translate into big dollars in a client's mind.
Make the conversation all about them. If they have seen your website or your ads before contacting you, then they know the high points (your service record, accomplishments, area of expertise, etc.). What they don't know is you and how you will handle their affairs. Always cover the information that you need from the client, as well as details of how you operate, so that there are no misunderstandings and they can make an informed decision.
To turn a lead into a client, be straight with your client.
