Video Challenges - Presentation

The two most challenging components in the audio/video industry are quality and presentation. Once video of quality is produced, the next challenge is to present it in a way that captivates the audience. For those producing general videos for a large audience--even if that audience isn't going to be watching the video at the same time or together--there are essentially three modes of presentation: large group, passer-bys and personal media.

Large Group Presentations - The key to a large group presentation--a meeting video--is logistics and the baseline a producer/director must consider at all times is the size of the audience. First of all, the television or big screen must be large enough for the people at the back of the room or the far end of the tent to view it easily.

The easiest way to loose an audience is to make the video difficult to see. On the flip side, even an average video that is presented on a large, bold television or screen can keep an audience captivated. Additionally, and not to be considered an afterthought is seating. Do not make people stand to watch a video unless their standing is an aspect of the video itself.

Another secret is a video opener. A video opener is an introduction and it is critical because one of the biggest mistakes a presenter can make is to keep the audience guessing as to what the video is about. Think of the video opener as a movie trailer.

The last and maybe the most important aspect of producing a large audience video is the audio. Audio is as important as a large viewing screen because in large audiences, there is always tumult. If everyone can hear the video's audio, generally, most people will remain in place until the presentation is over. But, the first person that can not hear the audio will leave.

Kiosk and Booth Presentations - Again, a good portion of the success, or lack there of, of a kiosk or booth presentation is based on the quality of the video. Does the video allow a person to understand the gist of the message within a few minutes?

However, there are also secrets to the presentation of a kiosk video. Unlike a large group video presentation, it is important to keep the volume of the audio low. The reason being, a kiosk or booth video is meant to draw people in. By keeping the volume low, people are forced to move forward--closer to the kiosk or booth and the products within it--to hear the video.

Another secret to a kiosk or booth video is the placement of the projection medium, the screen or television. It should be behind the product. Make the product the first thing a view sees if they look down or away from the video.

Finally, with booth and kiosk videos, use digital signage. The television or screen is not going to naturally draw people to the booth. That is the job of the digital signage. Make digital signage visible by putting it in a high place and--if possible--away from anything that will obstruct a passerby's view of it.

Personal Media Device Presentations - The newest video marketing medium is the personal media device presentation. There are a variety of means of getting your video onto someone's personal media device. The difficult part is figuring out how to get people to put your video on their device andf that where creative video companies come into play to help businesses with that process.
