Passenger Name Record (PNR) is a 10 digit number which is issued when a passenger books a reservation to Indian railway which can be achieved through viewing the railway reservation counter or through online. You can find this unique set of numbers at the upper left area of your railway ticket.

A PNR is issued by the CRS or the Central Reservation System which is an automated system by the Indian Railways and it will only be generated if the passenger provides information that contains the name of the passenger, age, gender, berth preference, date of journey, contact information, train number, class of travel, etc. A passenger enters these details online or writes them down on a reservation slip.
