I've made a list of the Top 8 Richest Athletes of all time. When it comes to celebrities, a rich athlete is quite common. Getting paid large sums of money to play professional sports is almost a given, but some people simply get paid more than others. Across the world, athletes are using the sports that they love as a way to make a living. The salaries of these eight demonstrate why being the richest athlete can have its perks.
1. Floyd Mayweather- $85 million- Although his pay will fluctuate based on the number of fights he participates in. That 85 million he earned, well he made it in 60 mins. Guess we all need to step our game up. 2. Manny Pacquiao- $62 million- One of the greatest boxers of all time. This athlete earns money through his sport as well as endorsements.
3. Tiger Woods-$59.4 million- He may have lost a few sponsors, but he is still making money. Woods makes his money from playing golf, endorsement deals, and his business deals.
4. LeBron James- $53 million- One of the most well-known basketballs players on the planet, even though his salary was cut by the NBA's 2011 season lockout he still number Top 4 richest athletes.
5. Roger Federer-$53 million- endorsements make up the majority of his earnings; it is still easy money for this athlete.
6. Phil Mickelson- Has won over $66 million throughout the course of his career and shows no signs of stopping. Though pro golfers have smaller "salaries" than other athletes, Mickelson's $43 million a year in endorsement deals earns him a place among the wealthiest.

8. David Beckham- No list of rich athletes would be complete without David Beckham. This MLS star has extended himself far beyond the confines of his playing field and it has paid off.
