Comparing Breast Lift With Other Types Of Surgeries

Some people have steered clear of cosmetic surgery with the belief that all forms of surgery are painful, with others even developing a phobia for them. If you thought having a breast lift was terrifying then you have probably never compared it to these surgical procedures:

1. Bilateral Cingulotomy

This type of surgery is meant to treat severe cases of cancer. The cingulate gyrus, a section of the brain connecting the frontal lobes with the limbic region, is disabled during the procedure. This particular procedure is also used to treat some mental disorders, although it is considered to be very controversial. This surgery is what has replaced lobotomy, although it is mostly used to help relieve cancer patients from their pain and not treat patients with depression.

Apparently, surgery to make your breasts a bit more perky is quite tame compared to bilateral cingulotomy. Moreover, breast lifting surgery is more of a cosmetic operation rather than curative treatment.

2. Hemispherectomy

Unbelievably, this procedure involves disabling or completely removing half of the brain. This type of surgery is mainly used to treat patients with seizure disorders. It is effective if the source of epilepsy is contained within one hemisphere of the brain. Hemispherectomy is only used on patients whose seizures cannot be managed using medication alone. Patients who undergo this procedure usually suffer from total or partial paralysis on the half of the body opposite the hemisphere affected. When this happens, neurons from the remaining will form new neural pathways by taking over the functions of the removed hemisphere.

Breast surgery doesn't involve any of your vital organs. Hence, despite all surgeries having some level of risk, it isn't as risky as hemispherectomy.

3. Hemicorporectomy

This type of surgery, also known as translumbar amputation, involves removal of the lower half of the body. Usually, the legs, rectum, anus, sexual organs, urinary system and pelvic bones are all removed. Because of its severely mutilating nature, it is only reserved as a last resort for patients who have fatal and severe illnesses such as tumors, osteomyelitis, intractable decubiti and severe traumas in the lower region of the body. There have only been a few cases so far. This procedure is usually carried out in two stages, but there have been some that have been completed in only one stage. The first stage involves discontinuing waste functions while the second stage is the amputation itself.

If there is any tissue to be removed during breast surgery, it would definitely not be as debilitating as hemicorporectomy. For sure, you would still have all your appendages intact after surgery.

4. Vaginectomy

This surgery involves the removal of part or the whole of the female sexual organ. It is used to treat different forms of cancer. However, in some cases, it can also be used during sexual reassignment surgeries which are done through the use of tissue from various parts of the patients' body.

Although the breasts also form part of your feminine physique just as your female sexual organ, breast surgery won't take away from it as vaginectomy does. On the contrary, breast lifting surgery would enhance it.
