There are many ways to reach your potential subscribers. If you can invest in PPC search engines such as overture.com, you can get lots of traffic to your site. You'll be bidding against other marketers for search terms, such as "gardening", "gardening soil", etc. But it can be a bit expensive.

You can also use Google AdWords, which can deliver lots of traffic to your site and get you lots of subscribers to your opt-in list. That can also be expensive.

You might want to go with Ezine Advertising and target a content related ezine based on your niche. Do a search for ezine in Google and you'll find all the possible targeted ezine that you can use in your niche.

With all that talking, I haven't really talked about why most opt-in list building system don't work, have I? Well the problem is that is not easy to generate a continuous steady flow of traffic to your site. Unless you have deep pocket and keep using PPC advertising and AdWord advertising or Ezine advertising, which can be quite expensive in the long run, you'll have to settle for the free traffic secrets.

Press release: Using press release is a good way to get lots of traffic to your site and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Just the idea of press release will send some new marketers hiding behind their computers, but don't be alarmed, once you have done it and get a feel for it, you'll be sending press releases like crazy. Writing articles: Writing articles and submitting them to various article directory can get you subscribers as well and branding you as an authority in your niche.
