Part 3 - Fishing in Cedros Island - Fishing Tackle & Fishing Lures

As Jose predicted, we had non-stop action from the first day up until the last and the great diversity of strategies with Yo-Zuri fishing lures which we caught fish on had been a lure fisherman's dream becoming reality.
I had been fortunate enough to catch a gorgeous 38-pound on a Spinning rod plus the pre mentioned Yo-Zuri Sashimi Slider fishing lure worked well as perfectly as it was intended to do in these situations. It is an under the sea walk the dog activity that is more elongated when caught so it actually glides beneath the water for 24" to 36", which attracted vicious strikes since it was worked with a quick rhythm back to the boat.
That has been the 1st half-day of fishingfrom this fishing paradise, tomorrow we will target Calicos and see just how massive they grow them here. I could barely get to sleep. However, following a first-class meal of freshly snared lobster and yellowtail I had gone fast asleep rather quickly.
Day two thru four provided non-stop adventure on the Calicos yet turned out to be tougher for the Yellowtails, since we had to work harder and move even farther to catch them. We ended up getting a couple of unexpected situations along the way with fantastic natural settings and sea mammals galore not to mention the unexpected appearance of a school of White Sea Bass which was more than happy to cooperate with us for some reason. If you have fished for such beautiful croakers you realize just how difficult they may be to capture on bait, let alone on fishing tackle.
Every morning we would focus on the Yellowtails early on then start working on the banks and bays in search of the widely known Cedros Islands Calico Bass. With the Yellowtails we used many different strategies just like the native lure criterion of throwing the "Iron" both surface iron & deep water jigging iron, combined with Yo-Zuri hard bait lures. Our own program was to cast once we were close by from the broken rock piles and kelp patties and troll our lures from the 20' Pangas boat using our 90-horse power Yamahas when we moved from spot to spot.
