What to Do When You Find Your Child Is Smoking Cannabis

Assuming you consider this to be a bad thing...

By having children you set yourself up for some tough times in the future. When they are small and innocent you can't imagine them ever doing anything wrong (even when they puke on your face), but as they grow older and they learn about some of the more enticing evils in the world, you will be in a world of worry on more than a few occasions. <br/><br/> One of the most common of these occasions is when you find that your child is smoking cannabis. This will happen more often amongst children as time passes as the drug becomes closer and closer to being legal and as drug dealers become better at avoiding police. Knowing what to do in advance of this situation (while it is still illegal) can ensure you are prepared and don't just blow your top. <br/><br/> Be Understanding <br/><br/> As mentioned, the worst thing you can is to be angry because it is most likely that their friends or a friend of a friend has introduced your child and they just want avoid looking like a wimp. By being angry you may just make them resent you for standing in the way of them being one of the gang. While you need to show understanding, you also need to make it clear that you don't want them doing it and that you are unhappy that they have done it when they know you disapprove. <br/><br/> Point Out the Dangers <br/><br/> The next thing to do is to point out all the dangers of smoking cannabis. If you have personal experience then you can use this or you can ask a friend to speak to them about it. Point out not only the physical dangers of smoking but the mental ones from the THC too. While cannabis may have never been a cause of death or made anyone go mad after a few joints, it does have many social hazards for your child's life and personality. <br/><br/> Offer Alternatives <br/><br/> Suggest that they perhaps start collecting cannabis seeds, or even feminized seeds if the law on growing cannabis is going to change any time soon. Try to get them to see that they can have fun in other ways than marijuana seeds like through sport or music. <br/><br/> Whatever happens, don't offer to let your child smoke at home 'because it is safer'. This just offers a green light to him and all his friends to use your house as a den for smoking more cannabis. Care about your child, but don't encourage them through caring. <br/><br/> <br/><br/>
