Can't Get Your Professional Logo Design? Tell Your Designer What To Do Along The Process
Anyone can get a logo on the internet, Sometimes this might not be the best option for you if you don't know what to tell your designer. Especially if no one understand what you want, and the message you want your logo to transmit. It could take a couple of weeks before the designer gives you at least one concept you consider acceptable and if you're lucky, the concept won't look amateurish.
If you've never worked with these internet agencies, you might think I'm exaggerating. Well, feel free to ask anyone that has previously worked with them, and you'll see I'm not exaggerating at all.
In the near future, all the economical activity will be through the internet, that means sooner or later you'll have to deal with these and some other companies. That's why we have to learn how to take the lead in our project, what to tell them to do and not just go with whatever they give you at first try.
Today, I'm going to give you 3 tips in what to tell your designer to do when creating your logo.
1- Follow your brief. Those are the instructions you fill at the beginning of the project. Make sure the project manager and the designer clearly understand your company's message and USP (unique selling point). I'm not saying they should literally insert your USPs into the design, that would be terrible. Remember that logos are not supposed to be literal, yet understanding the Company's goals will lead into the generation of cool ideas.
2- Don't tell, Show. Designers tend to understand things a little bit better when the see what they are trying to develop. A hand drawing could give them a better idea of what you want. Make sure you're not too specific, since that won't give them much space for creativity, or too broad because they might not catch the idea. 3- Don't ask to see multiple options. Some designers show many options as a way to raise the perceived of value of their own service. I understand why they are doing that, but I don't think there's real value in showing multiple options. At the end of the story, you'll only use one of those concepts. So, don't waste your time with multiple concepts, instead, put all your efforts in one or two well-developed concept.
Time for conclusions: You can turn a "frustrating situation" into a "success story" by taking the lead in your own project, simply keep in mind those tips and I'll guarantee you'll get a professional logo design. last but not least, don't stick to the company if you don't feel satisfied with their job. After 3 unpleasant concepts ask for a refund, there's no point in continuing after the 3rd attempt.
