Baja is known and loved for many reasons. Tourists flock to its famous, fun loving Pacific coast cities to enjoy the view from one of its many cantinas. Loreto is located up the coast about 400 kilometers from the tip of the peninsula. It is located on a natural bay that is rich in sea life. During the winter months of December through March, killer whales, gray whales and blue whales can be seen in the bay and all along the coast. Throughout the year, divers can witness a beautiful array of marine life in its crystal clear waters. White sand beaches and mangrove forests run for hundreds of miles in each direction of Loreto, so visitors can enjoy road trips to explore the neighboring beaches.

Fishermen come to Loreto year round to catch marlin, yellowtail, rooster fish, giant squid, sea bass and Dorado. Fishing can be done in both the Gulf of California or the Sea of Cortes. Boat rentals are available from multiple local marinas. Local fishing guides can be hired to take you to where the fish are biting. However, you can also bring your own boat and explore on your own.
