The Long Shore Country Club is owned by the town of Westport. The town's active recreation commission oversees the facilities and activities on more than 200 acres of preserved land. There are also numerous private country clubs offering golf, swimming, tennis, and social events for all ages.

Westport has many musical performance and community art centers, giving it a rich cultural life. In the summer, The Levitt Pavilion on the Saugatuck River hosts family concerts and performances. The Westport Friends of Music perform chamber concerts in the autumn and winter months.

The Bradley Wheeler Cobblestone Barn is houses the Museum of Westport History. It has a diorama of the town as it looked in the late 19th century. The historic Wheeler House was remodeled in the Italianate-style in the 19th century featuring Victorian period rooms and furniture, a gift shop, and Connecticut's only octagonal-roof, cobblestone barn.

Westport's educational system benefits from the generous support and involvement of its residents. The public schools emphasize a very strong academic curriculum, including both college preparatory and vocational training, along with a broad range of enrichment programs.

The town has two Metro North Railroad stations for commuters - Saugatuck, and Greens Farms. Major highways such as Interstate 95, the Merritt Parkway and Boston Post Road cut through the town.
