It's hard to believe it, but we are down to the last month of 2013. Have you accomplished your goals?

Depending on the goals you had this year you may not have enough time left in the next month to achieve what you set out to do back in January 2013. However, that doesn't mean you cannot start to set yourself up for a successful 2014.

So what should you be doing?

To me the most important thing a person can do right now is determine what business model they are going to focus on in 2014. What do I mean by that?

1. Big ticket. This is also referred to as top-tier programs. You see more of this being done in home business opportunities, network marketing, and affiliate marketing.

The idea is that if you're going to make a sale you might as well earn as much commission as you possibly can buy selling a more expensive product. For example, if your goal is to make $100,000 in 2014, would you rather do it selling $50 ebooks, or $1K-$2K home business opportunities?

2. Affiliate marketing. This business model still works or there wouldn't be so many people making money with it. I saw a story about Amazon last night on 60 Minutes where they talk about all the different things they are doing to increase their business going forward.

One thing that impressed me was the number of fulfillment centers Amazon has around the country. This makes it easy for anyone to become an affiliate for Amazon products, or join their Fulfillment By Amazon "FBA" program.

The other thing if you're going to choose affiliate marketing as your business model consider whether you want to sell products, do cost per action programs, or set up information sites and get paid by the click with the Google AdSense program. There are still numerous examples of all of these business models working when done correctly.

3. Network marketing. I recently looked at Organo Gold which is a coffee MLM program. I was impressed with the product line, but I was also impressed with their top-tier approach to enrolling new members with a large initial purchase order.

This makes it possible as a distributor to earn a much larger commission when you sign somebody up, which should be your goal. Again the same philosophy of earning more per sale makes sense. Plus the fact that when you deal with people who can afford this initial buy-in they're also going to have money to fund their business which will help them grow faster when they first start out.

Of course there are many different ways to make money online in 2014. Put a lot of time and effort over the next month into determining what business model you want to use to achieve your income goals in the next year.
