Using Colored Envelopes & Specialty Paper

If you are a teacher, child caretaker, or just a creative person in general, doing arts and crafts is something you can do to not only pass the time, but get the creative juices flowing.

Creativity is an important part in the development of the lives of children. It allows them to express themselves, as well as give them something fun to do. Kids get bored easily and can sometimes be hard to control and supervise, especially in large groups. Gathering children together and giving them colored paper and construction paper with a creative assignment in mind can be an excellent outlet. Arts and crafts using colored envelopes and paper are perfect for the holidays. Thanksgiving is well on its way and provides ample inspiration for an impressive number of craft ideas for kids to complete. They can create paper turkeys, Native American and pilgrim pictures and figures, drawings, and even a paper pilgrim hat they can actually wear. This latter is very cute and your kids will enjoy sitting at their desks with these hats on their heads. They may even grow to love arts and crafts so much that they will pursue the arts, or other similar interests, as they age.

Besides Thanksgiving, there are other upcoming holidays like Christmas and Chanukah that deserve to be celebrated. You are most likely sending out greeting cards inside colored envelopes to all your friends and family this year. It is a wonderful way to stay in touch, even if you cannot see everyone for the holiday season. For Christmas, send greeting cards in green, red, and white colored envelopes. Blue and white are traditional for Chanukah cards. Or, you can purchase generic "seasons greetings" to cover all the bases. If you have sent cards in the past, you may have some leftover envelopes from the previous holiday season you can finally use. Square envelopes are typical for greeting cards, but that should not stop you from being creative. Decorate the outside of envelopes with festive stickers or drawings.

If you sit in a cubicle and you want to spice up your work space just a tad, why not make some paper crafts? No one likes staring at a mundane wall for eight hours straight, after all. Create snowflakes for the winter or paper backdrops for printed pictures.

Being creative does not always mean picking up a musical instrument or a paintbrush. You can just as easily create art using specialty paper and a little imagination.
