Tutu How To In Fifteen Minutes!

by Ashton Field

Tutus are great for anyone to wear; from dancers, to movie stars, these little skirts can swirl into many lives. Tutus also look good on almost everyone. Those working on Broadway, have made them more popular than ever. Almost every show that is produced regarding the ballet, dancing, or musicals, tutu's are up-front and center. So much so because of how versatile they really are. They can be worn with or without tights. They look good with jackets, leotards, dance slippers, hats, scarves, and other accessories. Little girls wear them with ribbons, headbands, laced-up slippers, jewelry, etc. There is nothing that won't go with this little piece of material. It can be easily made using silk, satin, or breathable cotton rayon.

A Tutu will take the weight of small delicate sew-ons; stars, buttons, additional fabric pieces, initialing, drawing, or pasting on ornaments. All of this can make a tutu even more beautiful and inviting. Different colors, including neon, bright reds or greens, and shiny fabrics that will catch the eye. They come in every color of the rainbow; purple, yellow, orange, blue, white, black, gray, or brown. From flared to frilly; pleated to bubble; layers, Lycra, or elastic tutus can be made using anyone's imagination. These special little skirts can be worn as they are with a leotard, or with a top attached that matches the tutu in color and fabric choice. From little girls to big girls, tutus are one of the most acceptable form of dress for dancers. They can be made or bought, the choice is up to the wearer. Designing the tutu will make it as unique as the person wearing it because the imagination is limitless. When ordering online, be sure to ask for any discounts that might be available. Buying in bulk, for a school or recital program, is usually very inexpensive.

Sizes vary from child to adult, so be sure to confirm which size is needed. Imagine a tutu on a ballerina; dancing on stage to a sold-out crowd. She doesn't see how many people are in the audience, nor does she care because she is out for the enjoyment of the dance. The tutu is part of that dance, and is a part of the dancer's wardrobe. It allows her to express herself in a way that only a tutu can promote; freedom, longevity in the dance, passion, and strength. All these feelings are an integral part of the dance, and the tutu is a part of the entire performance.
