Where Do You Turn For Advice On Parenting?

Sometimes as a parent it is easy to forget what is really important. Everyone seems to have advice on parenting, but you don't really know who to believe. Do you think that attachment parenting is the way to go? Or do you believe that authoritative parenting is the right way? Maybe you aren't sure which way is the right way, but you just want to practice better parenting. There are a ton of articles on parenting styles, and you can use them as a guide. Always remember, that your child will look up to you for guidance and security. Do what feels right to you and your family, and don't let anyone tell try to convince you otherwise. Here are some tips to helping your child grow and learn.

Children learn about life from their parents. They look up to you as a role model for how they should act in the world around them. So while they may learn history, math, and science in school they learn social skills and learn how to love from their parents. Keep this in mind when deciding which parenting style works best for your children. If you aren't comfortable with something- don't do it! Play with your children often, it will show them how to follow rules, play with others, work towards a specific goal, and will help them strengthen emotional bonds with others.

Parenting is hard enough without having to adhere to strict parenting styles. Do what feels right for you and your family. Play together, learn together, and don't be afraid of making mistakes. If you find that something isn't working, then change it until it does. Any effort is better than none at all, so as your child gets older make a conscious effort to be involved in their daily lives. Ask them about school, sports, and their hobbies.
