It is important because it protects the products, helps them retain their quality and benefits product marketing. Foam packaging, strapping, stretch wrap, boxes, cloth, cartons, Styrofoam peanuts are some of the packaging materials commonly used.
But since our topic is about exploring the benefits of stretch wrap, foam packaging and strapping we will not be discussing all other packaging materials used.
Stretch Wrap: Many would not be aware of stretch wrap, it is basically plastic film used to unitize pallet loads. Often it is also used for bundling small things together. Stretch film comes in different varieties like hand stretch film, bundling stretch film, machine stretch film and static dissipative stretch film. These can be used depending on the size of the load and the bundling requirements. Stretch wrap is cost effective because it stretches, even little of it can be used to cover greater area and is much safer to use. Since strap machines are available it reduces the cost of labor.
Foam Packaging: Most common and the most preferred type of packaging is foam packaging. It is versatile and very light weight. While its versatility makes it the best choice for different size products, its light weight helps keep the cost of carriage down. It can be also shaped to fit in any object. If you would have noticed most of the electrical products come in foam packaging. It comes in different forms like foam sheets, foam chips, rolls of foam, polystyrene sheets and many others. Each can be used based on the type of material to be packaged; like foam sheets are generally used to pack glass items. All these benefits of foam packaging thus make it an ideal choice for companies.
Strapping: Another commonly seen packaging type is strapping and is mainly used to bind things together. You will find it generally on boxes, drums, wood, stationary, utensils etc. Strapping is a stronger alternative and works great under stress; when pulled tightly it does not break. Even if it cuts partially you do not have to worry about your load, because it will be still safe. It will neither affect the load nor your people. Strapping is very easy to carry, they can easily fit into your backpack, just load them into your bag and you will be all prepared to pack the things away.
Benefits of all these strapping, stretch wrap and foam packaging make them a good tool for packaging, however they also have their flaws, you need to consider them before starting to use them.
