Eight Ways to Receive A Quality Van Service

by Andy Jones

When it comes to your annual van service, you can shop around a number of places to get the best price, and you can also decide where you want your van servicing carried out. You could choose a servicing garage that also services cars as well as vans, or it could be a specialist van service garage who deals with commercial vehicles everyday. Either way they should know what they are doing. Here's what to look for in a good garage.

1) Are their technicians qualified in servicing your make and model of van? Your van is probably very important to your business, so ensure that your van will get the best service from qualified technicians who know what they are doing.

2) Make sure that they use original parts from the manufacturer of your van. Having original parts will protect your warranty. So ask if the parts they are using in your van service are original.

3) Van servicing often leads to unexpected repairs and work that you haven't expected. If this is the case, make sure that the garage undertaking your van service will contact you with details of any further work that needs to be carried out before they do the work. You will then know and can agree what additional work and costs there are prior to them doing the work.

4) Make sure you know what the van service involves. Garages should give you a checklist of the van service work that they will be carrying out. When your van is returned after its service, check the work carried out against the service checklist.

5) Garages usually guarantee their parts and labour for one year. If the garage you have chosen doesn't, then shop around as many offer guarantees as standard. If the service is not up to standard this will save you costs in the longrun.

If you have friends or colleagues that have van servicing as well, ask them for recommendations. If you have a garage that you trust it's good to stick with them.

7) You may have more than one van to service during the year. If this is the case, try and negotiate a discount on van servicing based on the volume of business you bring to them.

Make sure that your garage has stamped the service book and has inserted the right mileage. This sounds obvious, but sometimes gets overlooked when collecting a vehicle

If your can check all of these points when you take your van in for a service, then you should be able to cover yourself for most eventualities and get the best service from a good standard garage.
