Dell XPS 14 Ultrabook: A Brief Assessment

Compared to other laptops on the market, the XPS 14 Ultrabook is one of the most sought laptops. The main reason to this inclination is the features seen in the laptop like great design, sturdy build, high performance and long battery life.

Further this powerful notebook has many pros, as well as some cons. Lets go by them one by one:

Design and Exterior: 4 / 5 Stars

Right after taking the XPS 14 put of package first thing that came to my mind was Apple’s MacBook Pro. I am not looking for any controversies neither am i a Apple fanboy but its quite clear where the design team got their inspiration from. The exterior is made from an all all-metal chassis very sleak and minimalistic just like Apple’s MacBook pro, and the build quality is just like what you’d find on an Apple product. XPS 14 UltraBook has detailed finished and seems sturdy all together.

Display: 2 / 5 Stars

The screen on these Ultraboook is 14" since that's why they're called XPS 14 after all. Screen size is more than enough for a portable laptop but besides that the display has so many things that i found disappointing like the display resolution of 1600x900 pixels, granted its not as bad as what you'd find on most of the budget laptops but this is not a budget laptop. At this price a 1080p display would have made more sense. On top of that the viewing angles are awful, just bt moving a few inches to the sides you'll notice how colors distort and fade.

Hardware & Performance: 5/5

As the name abbreviates XPS to Xtreme Performance system , this laptop has been power packed with advanced features. Though the outer slim, stylish and attractive casing seems quite calm, the inner precise performance capability ranks this XPS higher in the list of dynamic laptops. Powered by flabbergasting Core i5 and core i7 Intel processors you can see this notebook having an immense ability to save power consumption, without compromising the functional performance.

When the first criteria regarding power is ensured worthy, next I would suggest you to compare the price points to see whether the XPS truly matches the affordability factor. Quoted for a tidy sum of $900, the XPS 14 is a bit costlier than the desktop PC that’s priced only half the amount quoted for this power laptop. But still good things are always priced better! Hence considering its worthy functionalities and features the pricing for this vibrant notebook is worthwhile. It’s hard to summarise all the benefits of this XPS 14 to prove its efficiency, but still the two main aspects every user would like to consider have been clearly notified. So if you are having thoughts about ordering this dynamic laptop, then I would suggest that you should venture to do it as soon as possible!
